Leyla Bilali has been working as a nurse in NYC for about ten years, forming real and honest relationships along the way. She is passionate about helping and supporting others. Her career began in pediatrics, at the Columbia children’s hospital and a general pediatrics office on the Upper East Side. She later transitioned to working as an IVF nurse at RMA, where she discovered her interest in fertility. When she was offered this job at RMA, Leyla did not have much experience with IVF or fertility treatments. However, she decided she wanted to learn about these practices, so she took the job. As she began working with her new patients, she learned not only of her interest in the space but of her gift of working with those facing infertility.

A registered nurse at one of New York’s top fertility clinics (Reproductive Medicine Associates of New York), in 2017, Leyla founded Fertility Together, a personalized concierge-style service that offers women the guidance and wisdom of a medical professional whenever — and wherever — they need it. We sat down with Leyla to learn more about what inspired her to start this service, and tips she has for women everywhere as they start the treatment process.

Leyla Bilali is a fertility nurse and the founder of Fertility Together, a concierge service for couples experiencing infertility. As a fertility nurse for one of the largest clinics in NYC, Leyla had a front row seat to the fear and uncertainty that couples were facing. She saw the limitations that the big clinics had in supporting their patients, and decided to do something about it.

How did you get your start and what was your initial inspiration?

I have a knack for connecting with people, which is why I went into nursing in the first place. I’ve always been drawn to science/medicine/healthcare, but the closeness of the nurse/patient relationship is what ultimately led me to nursing over medical school or research science. I find it very easy to connect with my patients at the fertility clinic and my clients, especially the ones that I do injections for throughout their cycles and/or counsel outside of my practice’s regular hours. One of my most dear patients kept urging me to pursue my own concierge business. She pointed out that it is the perfect niche for me – a combination of medical care and knowledge with the ability to ease a person’s anxieties. She kept saying: “I don’t know how anyone does this without a ‘Leyla’” and I would laugh, but then go home and think to myself: “Why am I not pursuing this?”
