What Is Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)?

Polycystic ovarian syndrome, or PCOS, is an endocrine disorder and a common cause of infertility in women. In PCOS, hormones that affect the reproductive system are abnormal, leading to irregular or absent ovulation. PCOS is a common disorder, affecting roughly 4% to 12% of women.(1)
